I still get emotional when I think about the day my daughter was born. It was a moment of immense joy, but also full of insecurities, fears, and uncertainties. And in the middle of it all, having Giulia, our doula, by our side was one of the greatest gifts we could have received.

From our prenatal meetings, she already made a big difference. She patiently and kindly taught us how to hold our newborn, how to bathe her… My husband was very nervous about handling a tiny baby, and after that session, he felt so much more confident — all thanks to her calm guidance.

Although my original plan was to have a vaginal birth, I ended up needing a scheduled c-section due to the baby’s position. Even so, Giulia’s presence was essential. I was really nervous at the beginning of the surgery, and she was absolutely wonderful — calming me down, helping me feel safe, and staying right by my side in the OR the entire time.

Having a Brazilian doula who could speak my language and truly understand me made all the difference. In such a vulnerable and emotional moment, being able to express myself freely and feel understood without needing to explain too much was deeply comforting. It felt like having a close friend there — someone who just got me.

Giulia was more than just a doula. She was warmth. She was strength. She was presence. And in such a transformative moment in life, that means everything.

Giulia was our birth doula for our daughter's delivery at Lions Gate hospital, as well as our night nanny, 3 nights per week for the first 4 months. Giulia was very professional and knowledgeable about infants. She handled our newborn with confidence and care and was always available to talk through different situations that arose regarding feeding, creams when our baby developed eczema, and more. Giulia made every effort to understand and support our preferences regarding our baby's routine. At night time, she did perfect swaddles that our baby loved, she was always sure to burp her before putting her back to bed and she settled her with ease. With Giulia's help, our baby happily self-settles and was waking up once a night by the time she was 4 months old, which helped everyone get as good a night's sleep as possible. I highly recommend Giulia for anyone looking for a birth doula or night nanny.

I cannot begin to describe how happy I am to have chosen Giulia as my doula. It was my first birth, and my labour was around 48 hours long, when I say she didn't leave my side for a second, I mean it.

I reached out to Giulia since it's just the two of us, my husband and I. We were expecting and we were traveling in uncharted territories. I knew we could master all the physical aspects of giving birth and taking care of the baby, but I felt that we needed that extra support when it came to taking care of ourselves as well.
First, having a doula while giving birth is something I would recommend to anyone! And not just any doula, GIULIA!! Through the matchmaking process we saw a video of Giulia, and she just spoke to us. The calmness in her voice and the reassuring note in her statements were what we sought in our support system.

We did not make a mistake. First, she accompanied us in this incredible story of bringing a new life to the world, by supporting me, helping me remember to breathe, and holding my hand in a manner that was not annoying at all, but comforting and reassuring. She was actively listening to me and turned out to be the best support at the most critical part of my labor and delivery process, by commanding the attention of the medical workers and advocating for my wellbeing.

Postpartum care felt like my sister was there to give out neat tips and tricks. Giving us enough space to try and err, while gently guiding us was the best approach we could ask for, and we saw our baby thriving in it. And, as I mentioned, helping me remember that I still exist and not everything is as important as it is in my head which proved wonderful to make me feel like a human and remove that burden of mom's guilt.
Having this kind of safety cushion in your late pregnancy and throughout the process of giving birth and getting a hang of the baby's needs lets you sleep at night knowing everything is going to be ok. And new mamas need their sleep!
